JTV’s 1 Year Aniversary= EPIC FAIL, FAIL & FAIL… (5 reasons there won’t be a second one)

Justin.TV launched as one of the founding platforms for the lifecasting genre. One thing is certainly clear, the boys at JTV aren’t very good at hosting events. Now don’t get me wrong I’d love to see them succeed but my gut instinct tells me that JTV will fail before it’s 2nd anniversary.
Here’s 5 reasons below:
1. While the site maintains a good number of viewers daily, the big draw is illegally streamed content. You cannot maintain a bussiness model based on pirated media. See: Does video have a Napster problem
2. Audience turnover, JTV had a flourishing community of lifecasters, showcasters & followers. The ultimate downfall of the site was the opening up of the beta program so soon. Being on JTV was no longer a special thing. People used to beg to be on now you can be on with a single click. There’s nothing special about it. Secondly, with no diplomacy in place negativity between casters flourished. These factors made it impossible for most people to remain on the site. What a shame, they had the foundation for a great user experience but couldn’t manage the community their beta casters worked hard to build.
3. Adding the social element to JTV seemed like a good idea, but with the mis-mash of ill conceived information architecture it seemed unfocused. Using those features proved to be a challenge to even the seasoned user.
4. JTV has fallen off the tech radar as tech bloggers and reporters have choosen to write about the next new and fabulous socialthing, twitter-clone or me too social application that pops up. JTV had no presence at SXSW or any other noteworthy place. Without a good publicist you FAIL miserably.
5. While JTV may have more users Ustream.TV has iJustine! HOLLA!!!!

That’s a good point. Eventually, some major media company may soon sue JTV out of existence. YouTube is getting sued for billions of dollars. How could handle if it happened to them? #2 is so true. If everybody got the chance to be on regular TV, would it work? And remember, it was Justine who brought JTV to the public.

i was one of the top lifecaster on JTV
but the admins of JTV turned on me
and banned me because
i got sick of users jacking live TV like ESPN TNT WWE SHOWTIME & HBO etc…
doing that is illegal & also was killing the website
one CH showing espn would have like 9,000 viewers
there for killing the webste to the point where me & other members could not stay Live.
so i took things into my own hands & e-mailed espn wwe showtime & HBO telling them what was going on,
as i’m sure you know the owners of thoes TV CHs were not happy about it
JTV found out what i was doing & banned me
when i was banned from JTV i had somewhere around 600,000 peroifle hits
i started on JTV back when it was in the beta code days
but 4 weeks later they opend for anyone to join
& i was cool with that
just as long as ppl are not useing it to jack live TV

Your opinion doesn’t matter because you have never been in a sucessful tech company. There will be a second anniversary and you don’t know the laws concerning illegally streamed media online. Go read the Digital Millennium Copyright Act because you don’t know what you’re talking about. Justin.TV was at SXSW and the other networks (ustream and stickam) bearly had any viewers watching their extended coverage of SXSW. Justin.TV doesn’t need iJustine because she isn’t nobody and Ustream sucks. iJustine thinks that people are going to be supporting her ass for the rest of her life, she can’t even get a real job. You need to stay the fuck off of Justin.TV if you got some much shit to say about the site.

JTV for sure is not going to make it. I’ve posted bulletins of great channels on myspace and so far none of my friends have joined. Most of them are either on Stickam or ustream. Originally, Dealer’s channel was great when he started. Watching Dealer, iJustine, Roxie and justin was fun, but iJustine is gone, justin stopped broadcasting, Roxie hardly comes on and lately Alan couldn’t care less about his viewers. JTV is dead.

jtv cannot be sued for letting people stream copyrighted material, their policy on that is very close to that of youtube. if the owner of the copyrighted material wants it taken down, jtv takes it down within minutes. if jtv were to get sued then youtube should get sued too since most of the material on youtube is copyrighted.
the person who is broadcasting the material is the one that gets sued for it, not jtv

What i find most sad about the turd is the fact that he demands respect from everyone in his channel (so he demands in the rules he has set), but he gives none back. If a person accidentally disagrees or (god forbid) actually happen to have a little more knowledge then he has in computers, he or some of his lame mods will swing the ban hammer.
You also claim to be the top broadcaster at JTV, im sorry to inform you that you were mediocre at best. You had a steady base of around 18 viewers, maybe a peak of 30 now and then. You kept banning people for nothing and acted like the turd you are, so people actually lost interest. I can name alot of other featured broadcasters that offeres alot more then you ever gave JTV (and no, they dont have to act sexy etc to do it, they were actually interesting.)

I think it will take some sort of marketing explosion to have JTV be successful. With out marketing JTV will get boring and just become a fad of the past. Also, JTV develops new (half ass) features all the time, instead of fixing what is broken already. Another problem is JTV even gets boring and stressful to the broadcasters which results in them leaving. Think back to November and even December of last year (what I call the golden age of JTV). There was iJustine, Dealer, EVC, Bradman, Roxie, and a new cam whore everday. Now we are left with basically cam whores and illegal content. Yes there are personal favorites, but there is no longer broadcasters that can maintain at least 50+ viewers for weeks on end.
And as for E-Tard I was banned in his room like everyone else, and I agree with what everyone else says, but I will give a personal insult because I think he will like it too much.
