LaLa FuFu! talkin’ shiii… talkin’ shiii…

The Roots live VH1 Soul performance went down last night in NYC and a good time was had by all. While I’ve seen them perform on numerous occasions, this performance was a little bit ho hum to me. First off they flubbed the first song totally requiring them to restart the set. The energy was not quite at the level of a typical Roots performance. I’d have to chalk this one up as an off night.

Our boy Ahmir Khalib “?uestlove” Thompson does his thing as always in an interview you’ll see later on Uptownlife.Net Michael Gonzales killed this interview last night so it’s definitely worth checking out once it drops and I’ll post it here on the blog for you to check out.

The Roots Crew is mobbed by fans in the “Infinity Room” immediately after the performance.

My all time favorite thing to ponder, “What’s in them boxes!”

Things learned/observed:

1. Chapelle show writer Neal Brennan made a call to ?uestlove about some possible work.
2. D’Angelo has a deal with J Records that I didn’t know about.
3. The VH1 Soul Publicist is hot!
